Written by the Divi Engine Documentation Team
Introduction
Follow these steps to use the Edit Post module.
Description
How to use the Edit Post module.
Difficulty
Hard.
Time
45 Minutes.
Step 1: Set It Up - Create Form Page
Start off by creating a page containing the Form module to create your Post/CPT Post/Page or Project.
1.) Add the Form module to the page of your choice to create your Post/Project/Page or CPT Post.
Step 2: Customize Our Settings - Create Form Page
Customize the Form Module on your create page by adding and mapping fields. Please visit our docs for more on this. In this example, I build a form to create Posts.
Content Tab Main Options
1.) Give your form a title.
2.) Give your form an ID.
3.) Select the type to create as the form type - I select Create Post Form.
4.) Change the submit button text if you so desire.
Content Tab New Form Field
Add Form Fields to the create Form module. In this example, I add one field to create the Post Title.
1.) Add Form Fields.
Step 3: Set It Up - Single Post/Project/CPT Post or Page Template
Set up an "All" layout in the Theme Builder for your Post/Project/CPT Post or Page template. In this example, I create a layout for my Posts because this is what the Form above creates.
1.) Add modules for the single "All" template.
Add Edit Post Module
Add the Edit Post module to the same "All" Theme Builder template.
Step 4: Customize Our Settings - Edit Post Module
Customize the settings of the Edit Post module. In this example, I Set the button to only show for authors, I then select the Create Post Page created above with the Creat Form module. Lastly I set the button to open up in a new tab.
1.) Customize the Edit Form module. The least that you need to define is to select the page containing the Create Form module.
Step 5: Add Custom Code
No custom code here.
Step 6: Conclusion
View your individual Post/CPT Post/Page or Project from the front end. On the page you will then see the Edit Post button where you placed it in the Theme Builder - I have customised the colour in Appearance > Customize > Buttons. If you then click the button your Create Form module page will open up.
